Why Providing a Cover Letter for a Job Application is Important?
A cover letter is being required by some recruiters to their applicants for substantial reasons. Most applicants think it's not that considerably important, but I'm telling you, it is. Employment recruiters perhaps won't just make us waste our time writing one if it isn't. Certainly, they're not that cruel.
So, why is it crucial to provide a cover letter for a job application?
1. It makes you stand out.
First and foremost is that it can help you stand out amongst the other candidates on the recruiter's list. Most especially from those who didn't obtain one.
Come to think of it and try putting yourself in a recruiter or hiring manager's shoes. If you were them, who would you prefer more? The candidate who attached a cover letter on his resume, or the other one who didn't? I'd assume you didn't pick the latter.
2. You get the opportunity to boast about your successes.
How good it feels to talk about ourselves sometimes, right? We don't always get the opportunity to do that. Thus, why not take advantage of it when we get the chance?
Boast about your skills. What makes you an ideal pick for the position? What solutions can you produce for the company? Just keep it sincere, clear, and concise. You don't need to be perfect for them to notice and want to hire you.
3. You'd immediately make a good first impression.
Having lots of accomplishments isn't necessarily significant in a cover letter. Just by the mere fact that you took the time to formulate one, to let the recruiters know about your interest in the job already makes you a good pick in their minds. Not all applicants make ways to do that.
Similarly, to what Jodi Glickman, author of 'Great On The Job'book, has observed, “Not sending a cover letter is a sign of laziness. It’s akin to making spelling and grammar mistakes in your resume. You just don’t do it.”
So take the time to create one if you truly want that job. Study says that 56% of recruiters want applicants to attach a cover letter to their resume. Another study made by CareerBuilder found, that 49% of HR managers consider a cover letter the second best thing to give your resume a boost.
